Beer Spa Without the Beer: A Non-Drinker’s Guide to Oakwell

titleBlockImage

Whether you’re more of a wine person or don’t drink alcohol at all, you might wonder whether you can go to a beer spa if you don’t drink. Does it mean you’ll spend the entire visit watching other people enjoy a pint while you politely hold a glass of water?

Fortunately, no. At Oakwell Beer Spa, drinking beer (or any alcohol at all, for that matter) is completely optional. Our herbal beer-infused baths don’t contain any beer, alcohol, or fermentation. Our taproom offers non-alcoholic options and gourmet mocktails that feel every bit as elevated as an alcohol-based experience.

Whether you’re sober, sober-curious, the designated driver, taking a break from alcohol, or simply think beer tastes like fizzy bread, you’re welcome to relax your way at Oakwell. This guide clears up what’s actually in a beer bath, explores the non-alcoholic drink options, and shows what beer spa non-alcoholic guests can enjoy.

Can You Enjoy a Beer Spa Without Drinking Beer?

Absolutely. Despite the name, drinking beer isn’t a requirement at Oakwell Beer Spa. You don’t have to know the difference between an IPA and a pilsner to sink into a warm herbal bath.

Put simply, the beer is optional at Oakwell. The stars of the show are our herbal-infused baths, infrared saunas, and rain showers, as well as our taproom and curated gourmet snacks.

A non-drinker beer spa experience is the same as any other visit to Oakwell. You’ll enjoy the same spa amenities and thoughtful atmosphere regardless of what’s in your glass. Non-alcoholic drinks are available, or you can skip beverages altogether.

Is There Actual Beer in a Beer Bath?

Nope. It’s called a “beer bath,” but you’re actually soaking in warm, gently bubbling water infused with beer-inspired ingredients. The water isn’t sticky and it won’t make you smell like alcohol.

Instead, Oakwell’s beer baths are infused with ingredients inspired by traditional beer-making, like:

  • Hops give the bath its subtle, earthy aroma and create a soothing atmosphere as you settle into the warm water.
  • Barley contains naturally occurring vitamins and antioxidants and has traditionally been used in baths to soften the skin.
  • Herbs add botanical aromas for a luxurious spa experience. You get to choose from three herbal infusions depending on the experience you want, from our muscle-relaxing Lager to calming Amber or an energizing IPA. And don’t worry, we named our herbal mixes after popular beer styles, but they don’t contain any beer or alcohol.

We know that some people avoid beer because of gluten sensitivities. If you’re gluten-free, let the Oakwell team know when booking your visit. Oakwell can prepare a gluten-free herbal bath by request so that you can enjoy the experience without barley.

What Can a Non-Drinker Do at Oakwell?

Pretty much everything a beer drinker can do, just without the beer. Your drink is only one small, optional part of the visit. The warm bath, private sauna, good company, and glorious feeling of having nowhere else to be are the real experience.

Here’s how the non-drinker beer spa experience works:

  1. Check in and visit the taproom: When you arrive, you can explore the taproom and choose from the available non-alcoholic options, plus a small selection of gourmet snacks. But if that’s not your speed, you can also skip drinks entirely, no explanation needed. Oakwell makes ice-cold water available at all times if you’d rather keep it simple.
  2. Settle into your private spa suite: Once you’re checked in, the Oakwell team will show you around your private suite and explain how everything works. Then, the space is yours to enjoy. Adjust the lighting, put on a curated playlist, and settle in with your partner or friends.
  3. Warm up in the infrared sauna: Spend a few quiet minutes in the infrared sauna or stay a little longer if you’re enjoying the warmth. You’re free to move between the sauna, bath, and shower in whatever order feels best.
  4. Soak in the herbal bath: The bath is infused with hops, barley, and herbs—not beer, alcohol, or fermentation—so your drink preferences don’t change the experience one bit.
  5. Rinse off and get ready: The beer bath will start draining 70 minutes into your 90-minute session. That gives you enough time to rinse off in your private rain shower and get ready without rushing. Oakwell provides towels, robes, and shower essentials, so you don’t have to pack any toiletries for your visit.
  6. Stay a while: Not ready to go back to the real world just yet? Book a first-come, first-served zero-gravity massage in our Relaxation Lounge. You can also swing by the taproom to top off your non-alcoholic beverage.

Beer Is Optional At The Beer Spa

You don’t have to drink alcohol at all to have a great time at a beer spa. Beer is an optional part of the experience at Oakwell. What really matters is getting the chance to unwind in our elevated herbal-infused baths, infrared saunas, and rain showers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Oakwell a good fit for sober, sober-curious, and mixed-drinking groups?

Absolutely. Oakwell is a sober-friendly spa in Denver where all visitors can have a good time, regardless of whether they drink. There’s no expectation to drink and no need to explain why you aren’t. Our taproom offers thoughtful non-alcoholic options, and drinking beer isn’t required for any part of our spa experience.

Does Oakwell have non-alcoholic drinks?

Yes, and plenty of them. The Oakwell taproom offers non-alcoholic options alongside our rotating selection of local craft beer and wine. While our drink menu changes, you can expect to find options like sparkling water, mocktails, juice, and kombucha.

Is there alcohol in a beer bath?

No. It’s called a beer bath because it contains the same botanicals used to brew beer, but without the yeast or alcohol. We infuse the water with hops, barley, and personalized botanicals to create a relaxing, elevated bath. The smell is actually more floral and earthy, so you won’t leave smelling like beer, either.

Can I enjoy an Oakwell beer bath if I’m gluten-free?

Yes. Oakwell can prepare a gluten-free herbal bath without barley by request. Let the team know about your needs before your visit so they can have the right bath blend ready for you.
