Civic Center EATS

When: Every Wednesday & Thursday, 11 AM - 2 PM

Where: Civic Center Park, Denver, CO

Have lunch at one of Denver’s most popular parks at Civic Center EATS. Food trucks join together at the park to share some of the best local eats. 

This is one of the best summer activities because you can enjoy lunch and explore nearby attractions, including the Colorado State Capitol and the Denver Art Museum.

Live Music at Red Rocks

When: One concert daily in August

Where: Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Morrison, CO

A Red Rocks concert is one of the best Denver August events for music lovers. The iconic outdoor amphitheater is surrounded by magical red rock formations, making for one of the most unique concert settings. 

There are 31 shows throughout August, with a good mix of popular and lesser-known artists. A few performers you can see in August include Pretty Lights, Mt. Joy, Slightly Stoopid, and John Fogerty.

The Denver Performing Arts Complex is one of the largest performing arts centers in the country. It spans over four blocks with various performance spaces.

The Boozy Book Fair and Silent Auction

The Boozy Book Fair and Silent Auction is like a school book fair but with a twist. Join a good cause and support teacher-related grants while enjoying books, drinks, food, and socializing.

There will be a silent auction, and a portion of the proceeds will help buy books for Colorado teachers.

Colorado's Taste of Ethiopia Festival

When: August 3rd at 10 AM to 9 PM and August 4th at 10 AM to 7 PM

Where:  Parkfield Lake Park, Denver, CO

Cost: Free entry

Colorado’s Taste of Ethiopia Festival is back for its 10th annual event. Celebrate Ethiopian heritage with delicious food, cultural music, and vibrant arts. 

This is one of the best family-friendly events in Denver this August, with activities, drinks, and food for everyone to enjoy.

Colorado Scottish Festival

When: August 3rd, 7 AM to 9 PM and August 4th, 7 AM to 5 PM

Where: Denver Polo Club, Sedalia, CO

Cost: $20 one-day pass and $35 weekend pass for adults (discounts for youth, seniors, military, and families)

For 60 years, the Colorado Scottish Festival has brought Scotland to Denver. Enjoy pipe bands, Highland dancing, athletics, Celtic music, and more. The event is family-friendly, with fun activities for everyone.

Colorado Rockies

When: August 6th through 11th and 26th through 31st

Where: Coors Field, Downtown Denver, CO 

Cost: Tickets start at $7

A Colorado Rockies baseball game is one of the most iconic Denver August events. They play at Coors Field and have several games throughout August. 

The field is conveniently located in downtown Denver, so you can hang out in town before or after the game or head a few minutes to Oakwell Beer Spa for a relaxing spa treatment.

Urban Market at Union Station

When: August 10th, 11th, 17th, and 18th, 12 to 6 PM

Where: Denver Union Station, Denver, CO

The Denver Union Station is a popular landmark, historic train station, and lively area in Downtown Denver. 

Enjoy the Urban Market at Union Station this August, where food vendors, local artisans, and creatives come together to share their talent and passion. It’s the perfect place to shop, dine, and socialize.

Impact Uganda Fun Run

When: August 12th at 8 AM

Where: 8085 E Harvard Ave., Denver, CO

Cost: $39

Are you looking to get active this August in Denver? Join the 5th annual Impact Uganda Fun Run for a 5K or 10K walk or run.

True Impact Ministries currently has about 50 children who need sponsors, and all fun run proceeds go to children and families in Uganda.

Race4Research

When: August 18th, 2024

Where: Washington Park, Denver, CO

Cost: $40

Race4Research is back for its 28th annual 5K run and walk at the beautiful Washington Park in Denver. The event is in memory of Michele Plachy-Rubin and supports cancer research and patient services. 

Proceeds for Race4Research go to the Cancer League of Colorado, Inc., an all-volunteer organization.

Highlands Farmers Market

When: Every Sunday, 9 AM to 1 PM

Where: Highland Square, 32nd Avenue, Denver, CO

Cost: Free entry

If you enjoy local goods, be sure to visit the Highlands Farmers Market before it closes for winter. 

Spend your Sunday morning listening to live music and shopping for fruits, vegetables, flowers, snacks, and more. There’s also a bar with drinks and delicious meals available for breakfast, brunch, and lunch.

Q BBQ Fest

When: August 22nd 6 to 10 PM, August 23rd 4 to 10 PM, and August 24th 10:30 AM to 10 PM

Where: Civic Center Park, Denver, CO

Cost: Free general admissions; VIP tickets start at $109

The Q BBQ Fest is back for its 7th annual event hosted by cookbook author Tyler Florence. Spend the weekend tasting award-winning BBQ with live music, beer, and BBQ tutorials. 

You can pay as you go during the festival or purchase tickets for all-you-can-eat and drink.

Summer Whiskey Tasting Festival

When: August 24th; 2:30 to 6 PM

Where: Jaguar Room, 1941 Market St.

Cost: Tickets start at $30

The Summer Whiskey Tasting Festival is the perfect event for whiskey lovers. Spend the afternoon tasting over 20 small batch and world-renowned whiskies. 

Enjoy food, drinks, and a live DJ. VIP tickets are also available for top-shelf samples, a small bites food buffet, and additional tasting cups.
