While beer spas have been around for many years, they’re new to the United States. If you’re wondering what a beer spa is, you’re in the right place.
In this article, we’ll answer what is a beer spa? We’ll also discuss how they’ve evolved and what you can expect when you visit a beer spa – Oakwell Beer Spa, specifically.
Beer spas aren’t your standard day spa. They offer a unique beer-inspired spa experience where you can relax differently.
For example, Oakwell Beer Spa in Denver has a craft beer taproom that serves local Colorado brews. Our signature spa service, beer bath hydrotherapy, also infuses beer’s beneficial ingredients into the warm water for a rejuvenating beer bath.
Beer spas have actually been a part of Eastern European culture for centuries. The first beer bath recorded dates back to 921. King Wenceslas, the Duke of Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) had his servants prepare him cold brewery baths with wort from the nearby abbeys.
It’s a long-standing belief that yeast and other ingredients in beer, including hops and barley, can provide many health benefits. Using these ingredients topically can decrease wrinkles, release toxins in your body, moisturize your skin, and nourish your hair.
Today, you can actually find many beer spas in the Czech Republic, especially in Prague. These beer spas are mostly party-oriented, where friends get together for a good time.
Oakwell Beer Spa in Denver, Colorado, has upleveled the original beer spa concept along with traditional day spas around the world. The Oakwell Beer Spa experience is one-of-a-kind, with a cozy taproom oasis and day spa in a modern space.
Wellness treatments at Oakwell Beer Spa include the Beer Bath Hydrotherapy, Infrared Sauna, and Zero Gravity Massage.
Oakwell Beer Spa offers services that encourage you to relax differently. What better way to enjoy your spa treatments than with a delicious craft beverage? While you’re enjoying your beer-inspired, relaxing spa services, you can also sip on a beer, kombucha, tea, cider, or wine.
Kick back in a cedar hydrotherapy tub that’s filled with a blend of hops, barley, and herbs for the Beer Bath Hydrotherapy experience. Soaking in a bubbly beer bath offers many benefits, including smoother skin, reduced muscle and joint pain, decreased muscle tension, and nourished skin.
Relax and detox your body as you soak up our full-spectrum infrared sauna’s healing heat. As your body temperature increases, you’ll begin to sweat and release toxins from within.
The Infrared Sauna is different from a traditional sauna because infrared waves heat the body from within and directly penetrate the cellular level of the body to raise your temperature for sweat and detoxification. Because of this, infrared saunas are said to be more effective. Infrared saunas are also less steamy, causing less humidity than traditional saunas.
Take a trip to space in our Relaxation Lounge, where you can enjoy a Zero Gravity Massage experience. The room is dark, with relaxing music playing, making it easy to unwind.
You’ll lie back in a high-tech massage chair that uses the latest robotics technology to give you a relaxing full-body massage. The experience offers health benefits like reduced pain and soreness, improved flexibility, stress relief, and improved posture.
When you’re going to the spa, you don’t often think of local craft beverages and beer therapy™ rooms. A spa day at Oakwell Beer Spa is unlike any other.
You can expect an inclusive environment, a unique experience, complete relaxation, and a cozy taproom.
Whether it’s your very first time pampering yourself at a day spa or not, you'll definitely feel welcomed at Oakwell Beer Spa.
We’re breaking the stigma that spas are made for certain people. We believe everyone deserves to relax, so we’ve created a laid-back yet luxurious space where everyone feels comfortable.
Oakwell Beer Spa is the perfect place for men, women, and everyone. We welcome couples, friends, and the solo relaxer for any occasion–a celebration, a relaxed outing, or quality time.
Instead of your traditional spa treatments like manicures and pedicures, we offer special services in a unique space. How many people can say they’ve taken a beer bath or gone to a day spa that serves locally sourced craft beverages? You can after you visit Oakwell Beer Spa!
We promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage you to indulge in self-care in our relaxing space. Along with health benefits, our beer bath, infrared sauna, and zero-gravity massage chairs provide the ultimate restorative experience.
Every space at the spa has been carefully designed and created to offer a fun but therapeutic experience. The taproom has elegant and comfortable furniture, and the beer therapy™ and vanity rooms have everything you need to pamper yourself and relax.
Our taproom offers a self-serve rotating selection of craft beer, wine, cider, and non-alcoholic beverages. Each month, we host a tap takeover with a different Colorado-based brewery where we feature five of their most popular brews.
The self-serve beer wall lets you enjoy as much or as little as you’d like. We also have cozy furniture for relaxation and conversation cards for entertainment.
We know many people aren’t familiar with beer spas, so let’s answer a few common questions.
While all spas focus on wellness, beer spas also include beer therapy™ for a unique spa day twist.
At Oakwell Beer Spa, we combine a day spa and a taproom into one. Not only do we serve local craft beer, but we also serve other beverages for those who want something different.
We also infuse our beer baths with a seasonal herbal blend with beer’s main ingredient’s, hops and barley – kind of like a giant beer tea that you get to soak in.
There are many benefits of bathing in beer. Beer ingredients, hops and barley, have vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants that are excellent for your hair and skin.
People have been taking beer baths for centuries to reap benefits like anti-aging, pain relief, relaxation, and better sleep.
We might be biased, but we think beer baths are the most relaxing spa treatment. Soaking in a bubbly, beer-infused bath is a great way to melt away stress. To take the relaxation up a notch, kick back in a Zero Gravity Massage chair for a deep-tissue massage that targets the whole body.
The most important part of preparing for a spa day is that you’re ready to unwind. Here are some top tips to ensure you have the ultimate, stress-free experience.
When you arrive at Oakwell Beer Spa, we’ll walk you through the entire experience.
First, you’ll receive a stainless steel, insulated tumbler to serve yourself a beverage from the taproom. Then, you’ll spend an hour and a half enjoying your spa treatments in the Beer Therapy ™ Room. Each room is completely private for you to enjoy solo or with a friend. In your room, you’ll have a cedar hydrotherapy tub, a full-spectrum infrared sauna, a rain shower, and a relaxation deck.
We recommend detoxing in the sauna for 20 minutes, taking a cold shower to keep your blood flowing, and then relaxing in your beer bath for about 40 minutes. After your bath, check out the Beer Therapy Minibar and beer-infused shower products.
You can also add on a Zero Gravity Massage experience to enjoy after your beer bath.
Oakwell Beer Spa’s signature service is for up to two people. You can also book a Garage Party for up to two people or rent the space for a larger party.
While you need to book an appointment for the Beer Therapy™ Room session with the Beer Bath and Infrared Sauna, you can stop in without an appointment to hang out in the taproom or enjoy a Zero Gravity Massage.
Are you ready to enjoy a unique day spa experience? A spa day at Oakwell Beer Spa is the perfect way to relax and enjoy local craft beer (or other tasty beverages).
Book your appointment online for up to four people, or call to schedule a group spa day.
