Fun Facts About Pikes Peak Brewing Company

Pikes Peak is a brewery, brewpub, and beer garden in Monument, Colorado, just outside Colorado Springs. Before diving into which beers you can enjoy this August at Oakwell Beer Spa, let’s look at a few fun brewery facts.

• Pikes Peak was established in May 2011 by owner Chris Wright, who had been a homebrewer for 15 years.
• The brewery began as a small, 10-barrel brewery with a small tasting room that has since expanded. 
• Today, the taproom is a lively pet and family-friendly space with indoor seating and an expansive beer garden, serving a large selection of beer, food, wine, and canned cocktails. 
• In 2020, Pikes Peak also opened the Lager House in Downtown Colorado Springs to produce some of the best lagers in the area.
• Pikes Peak is known for creating a space that brings the community together. Recently, they had a John Denver celebration with several bands that brought in a large crowd. The brewery’s atmosphere perfectly fits their motto, “Life is better when lived together.”
• The Tejon Mexican Lager, which you can enjoy this August at Oakwell, was created in 2019 for Pikes Peak’s 8th anniversary. It’s still one of their most popular beers.

Mexica Lager, 5.4% ABV

The Tejon Mexican Lager is the perfect refresher while cooling off and relaxing at Oakwell Beer Spa. It features a delicate sweetness and minimal hop bitterness.

Blue Mesa Tropical Blonde

Blonde Ale, 5.4% ABV

The Blue Mesa Tropical Blonde is one of the best easy-drinking beers for summer. Notes of orange and guava perfectly complement its prominent passion fruit flavor. It smells delicious, too!

Cherry Lime Sour

Fruited Sour, 6.5% ABV

The Cherry Lime Sour is a must-try if you like sour beers! It’s both tangy and fruity, making for a vibrant yet refreshing summer drink perfectly paired with a relaxing spa day.

Ocean of Clouds Hazy IPA

Hazy New England IPA, 6% ABV

The Ocean of Clouds Hazy IPA is made with English yeast and double dry hopped with Azzaca, Cascade, and Amarillo hops. It’s a flavorful, aromatic, and smooth beer with the pillowy mouthfeel IPA drinkers love.

Devils Head Red Ale

American Red Ale, 7.3% ABV

Take your spa day up a notch with the Devils Head Red Ale. It's dry-hopped with Mosaic and Centennial hops, and its robust flavors of caramel and toast are balanced with pine and citrus notes.

August Beer Bath Blend at Oakwell Beer Spa

Oakwell Beer Spa’s signature treatment is Beer Bath Hydrotherapy. You’ll relax in a cedar tub filled with warm, bubbly water infused with a gentle blend of beneficial beer ingredients, hops and barley, and herbs.

The rejuvenating bath blend contains vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants that support relaxation and other wellness benefits. August’s beer bath blend uses Centennial Hops and Munich/Pilsner Malt from Pikes Peak’s Devils Head Red Ale. 

The blend is also made with Strawberry Leaf, which has various herbal benefits that soothe your skin. Strawberry Leaf is packed with Vitamin C, which can help protect your skin and keep it healthy, especially during the summer heat.

Can I really drink beer during my spa treatments?

One of Oakwell Beer Spa’s most unique features is that you can enjoy beer during your spa treatments. When you arrive for your spa day, you’ll get an insulated stainless steel tumbler to keep your beverage cold while sipping and relaxing.

The only place we ask guests not to take drinks is the Relaxation Lounge, where you can enjoy the Zero Gravity Massage experience.

What spa services does Oakwell Beer Spa offer?

Unlike traditional day spas, Oakwell Beer Spa offers unique services, including Beer Bath Hydrotherapy, an Infrared Sauna, and a Zero-Gravity Massage.

The standard spa day package gives you access to a private Beer Therapy™ Room for up to two people. If you have a larger group, you can choose the Garage Party Package or rent the entire space for a private party.

How does the self-serve beer wall work?

The self-serve beer wall is fun and easy to use. When you arrive, we’ll walk you through how it works by following these simple steps:

1. Use the scan card you’ll receive when you arrive to unlock the taps on the beverage wall.
2. Explore the rotating selection of Pikes Peak beers and tasting notes with the price per ounce for each drink.
3. Select your drink, scan your card, and pour the amount you’d like.
4. When you’re ready to check out, take your card to the reception desk to pay for the ounces you poured.

Does Oakwell Beer Spa have anything else to drink besides beer?

We understand beer isn’t everyone’s thing, or sometimes you’re in the mood for something different. That’s why we also have water, cider, tea, kombucha, and wine.

Can I hang out in the taproom before and after my treatments?

You’re welcome to spend as much time as you like in the taproom before or after your spa services. There’s plenty of comfortable furniture, ideal for settling in to socialize and drink.

Can I just stop by for a beer without a spa treatment?

We’d love for you to hang out, whether you’re enjoying a spa treatment or not. The cozy taproom is ideal for relaxing and enjoying a drink or a few.
