Colorado is easily one of the most remarkable states in the US and is most known for its breathtaking scenery, outdoor experiences, and vibrant beer scene. In this article, we're sharing the most unique things to do in Colorado.
While there are many iconic locations in Colorado, we’ve compiled a list of some of the most remarkable places and activities you can’t find anywhere else.
Here’s a quick rundown. We’ll share more details, including local tips, below.
Royal Gorge Bridge & Park is about an hour from Colorado Springs and is easily one of Colorado’s coolest amusement parks. Discover America’s highest suspension bridge, exciting rides, and picturesque scenery at this 360-acre amusement park.
The park is filled with fun rides and activities, including a sky coaster, a zip line, and a theater. People from around the world also visit Royal Gorge Bridge & Park for its history. The bridge, built in the late twenties, sits about a thousand feet over the Arkansas River and offers some of the most beautiful views in Colorado.
The Breckenridge Troll is one of the most rare and iconic art installations in Colorado. A Danish artist, Thomas Dambo, built this 15-foot wooden sculpture that sits on the Trollstigen Trail in Breckenridge.
It’s easy to reach this giant, unique sculpture in the White River National Forest. The trail is flat, well-maintained, and about a mile out and back.
This is the perfect quick stop in nature for a rare and fun photo opp.
Colorado is known for its lively beer scene, and if you enjoy craft beer, we highly recommend visiting Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver.Â
Wynkoop is one of our favorites, and it’s Colorado’s first-ever brewpub. It's known for being unapologetically original, brewing unique beers for over 30 years.
Wynkoop Brewing Company is in Denver’s historic downtown in the city’s largest pool hall. The vibe is fun with pool tables, shuffleboard, and other games.
It’s open daily, with a full food menu and delicious craft beer. Pets are welcome in the outdoor area, too.
Another unique spot in Denver is Oakwell Beer Spa – Colorado’s only beer spa.
Oakwell Beer Spa takes wellness up a notch with a rejuvenating, fun spa day experience. Guests can enjoy beer-inspired spa treatments and a relaxing taproom that features local craft beers and other tasty beverages.
Oakwell’s spa treatments include Beer Bath Hydrotherapy, Infrared Sauna, and a Zero Gravity Massage experience. They each offer mind and body benefits in a peaceful and memorable environment.

Red Rocks Amphitheater is a must-visit if you like music and incredible scenery. Some of the best musicians play at this stunning open-air theater in Morrison, about 20 minutes from Denver.
You can find a show most nights from April through October. There are also other special events at Red Rocks, including Film on the Rocks every Monday and Yoga on the Rocks every Saturday.
Steamboat Resort is one of the most unique things to do in Colorado if you enjoy winter activities.
This is one of the best places for a vacation, with views and activities unlike any other. While there are many ski resorts in Colorado, Steamboat is ideal for anyone, with opportunities for all-level skiers. You can also go hiking and biking, listen to live music, and more.
Steamboat Springs is open year-round, and while the snowy season is magical, it’s a perfect getaway any time of year.
Garden of the Gods Park is a large public park in Colorado Springs. And it’s one of Colorado’s few registered National Natural Landmarks due to its incredible natural history and beauty.
This area offers a picture-perfect backdrop with stunning sandstone rock formations and wildlife. It’s the perfect place to hike, with various well-marked trails for all levels. Pets are welcome, too!
The nature and visitor center is also worth checking out, although it can get busy.
Colorado has no shortage of parks, and Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is one of the most fun and family-friendly. It also sits over 7,000 feet high on a mountain for epic surroundings.
Glenwood Springs is a mountain resort community between Vail and Aspen in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. It's the ideal vacation destination.
The park is open year-round with fun rides and Colorado’s largest show cave available to tour.
Mesa Verde National Park is one of the United States’ first UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This preserved settlement landscape of Ancestral Puebloan culture is in the Southwest corner of Colorado and is incredibly interesting.
Exploring cliff dwellings is one of the most popular attractions at Mesa Verde, but there are also several hiking trails, a museum, and live programs. You can also go camping at the nearby Morefield Campground, uniquely located in a high grassy canyon.
If you’re an adventure enthusiast, driving the Million Dollar Highway is an unforgettable experience.
This iconic, winding section of the San Juan Skyway is about 25 miles long and runs between Colorado mountain towns Silverton and Ouray.
The Million Dollar Highway is arguably the most gorgeous drive in Colorado. The highway takes you over unreal mountain passes, along creeks and rivers, and past steep cliffs. We recommend visiting the charming towns along the way, which also make for ideal places to enjoy a mountain getaway.
Local Tip: Drive The Million Dollar Highway during summer or early fall for the best views and safest driving conditions.
South of the Million Dollar Highway, also along the San Juan Skyway, is the San Juan Mountains.
This high, rugged mountain range stretches about 12,000 miles and covers the southern Colorado Rocky Mountains. It's a stunning area to explore volcanoes, alpine lakes, and waterfalls.
Some of the best towns in the San Juan Mountains, excellent for hanging out and spending the night, are Telluride, Ouray, and Silverton.
We hope this list has inspired you to explore Colorado’s special places and hidden gems.
