Fun Facts About Hogshead Brewery

Let's look at some fun brewery facts before we get into which beers we’re sharing from Hogshead Brewery.

• Hogshead Brewery opened in 2012. The name comes from the British unit of measurement for beer and other liquids. A hogshead of ale equals about 54 imperial gallons.
• The brewery's location is unlike any other in Denver. Its home is a 1950s gas station that offers a laid-back vibe where you can enjoy beer indoors at large tables, ideal for socializing or outdoors on the pet-friendly patio.
• Hogshead recently underwent a new ownership change. Robert Bell is the head brewer and owner and works with David Liechty, the “guy that does stuff,” to brew some of Denver’s best beers.
• The brewery’s taproom has CO2-pressurized kegs to serve delicious, cold beer.
• While they have an emphasis on traditional British ales, they brew and serve a variety of delicious beers.

November Brews at Oakwell Beer Spa

From an easy-drinking Mexican Lager and flavorful Fruited Sour to a delicious IPA and the brewer’s favorite Extra Special Bitter, there’s something for everyone from Hogshead Brewery this November at Oakwell Beer Spa.

Regal Mexican Lager

5% ABV

Pair your spa day with a clean, crisp Mexican Lager. It’s pale with high clarity and lower bitterness. The best part? It’s refreshing with light flavors without being overly sweet.

Sangria Fruited Lager

5% ABV

If fruits are your thing, you’ll love the Sangria Fruited Lager! It has hints of oranges, pineapple, peaches, nectarines, apples, pairs, and a touch of strawberry. 

Roundtrip Belgian Ale

5% ABV

Enjoy a clean, clear, and golden Belgian Ale. It’s characterized by fruity, yeast-forward flavors and aromas, making for a delicious spa day beer.

Hog Wild IPA

5.9% ABV

If you like IPAs, you’ll want to try the Hog Wild IPA. It’s low in bitterness but has a bold, hoppy grapefruit aroma and citrus resin flavors.

Chin Wag Extra Special Bitter (ESB)

5.8% ABV

The Chin Wag is the original Amber Ale, an interplay between hop bitterness and malt. It has an earthy and herbal character with a medium to high bitterness, aroma, and flavor. This is Hogshead head brewer's favorite beer!

November’s Beer Bath Blend at Oakwell Beer Spa

Oakwell Beer Spa’s signature spa treatment is the Beer Bath Hydrotherapy. You’ll soak in a warm, bubbly beer bath and reap mind and skin benefits.

Take your beer bath in a cedar hydrotherapy tub filled with warm water and a nourishing blend of beneficial nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants. November’s beer bath uses Centennial Hops with Caramalt and Amber Malt from Hogshead Brewery’s Hog Wild IPA. The bath also has our herb of the month, St. John’s Wort.

The bath’s revitalizing blend and antioxidants in St. John’s Wort will help you relax, fight signs of aging, and protect your skin from seasonal changes.

Can I really drink beer during my spa treatments?

Yes, at Oakwell Beer Spa, guests can enjoy their beverages and spa treatments at the same time. The only place we ask you not to take your drink is the Relaxation Lounge, where you can sit back and enjoy the Zero Gravity Massage experience.

What spa services does Oakwell offer?

We aren’t a traditional day spa. Our unique spa services include Beer Bath Hydrotherapy, Infrared Sauna, and Zero Gravity Massage.

In your private Beer Therapy™ Room, you’ll have a relaxation deck, rain shower, infrared sauna, and cedar hydrotherapy tub. We also offer group and party spa day packages.

How does the self-serve beer wall work?

The self-serve beer wall is one of our most fun features at Oakwell Beer Spa. When you arrive, the receptionist will walk you through the process of following these simple steps:

1. You’ll get a card to scan and unlock the taps on the beverage wall.
2. Check out the rotating selection of Hogshead Brewery beers on tap. There are also other drinks, including wine and cider. The beer wall also shows tasting notes and the price per ounce for each drink.
3. Choose your drink, scan your card, and pour any amount you’d like.
4. When you’re ready to check out, you can bring your card to the receptionist to pay for the ounces you poured.

Can I just stop by for a beer without a spa treatment?

Please do. We welcome guests to stop by and hang out in the taproom with or without an appointment. The taproom is a cozy space to settle in and enjoy a drink or a few. We also have conversation cards for a fun experience with friends, family, or a date.

Does Oakwell Beer Spa have anything else to drink besides beer?

We know everyone isn't always up for a beer, so we offer other tasty beverages. You can also enjoy wine, cider, tea, and kombucha at Oakwell Beer Spa.

Can I hang out in the taproom before and after my treatments?

Absolutely! Feel free to make a whole day of it if you'd like, and get comfortable in the taproom before and/or after your spa day.
